Delta Children's Museum Presents "Predators" Exhibit

January 13th to April 15th

CITY: Greenville, LOCATION: Greenville Mall. The Delta Children's Museum will sponsor and bring to the Delta a 2,400 sq. ft. family-oriented "hands-on" children's exhibition called "Predators" for a three month exhibition stay located in the Greenville Mall. Times of operation will be Tuesday-Saturday, 9a.m.-5p.m.; Sunday 1p.m. - 5p.m.; The museum will be closed on Mondays. http://www.deltacm.org

Delta Perspectives Art Gallery Opening

February 24th to March 23rd

Gallery Opening, Rodger D. Malkin Gallery Opening reception on Friday, February 24 (5:30pm-7:30pm) Last year we traveled around the world; this year we are featuring our home. A variety of local artists will share their mediums and how Delta landscapes have inspired their work. Gallery openings are free events and open to the public. Artwork will be available for purchase.

Mississippi Symphony Orchestra String Quartet

Come and join us for a symphonic treat as we bring to you four outstanding string players from The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra String Quartet. These four principal players are Marta Szlubowska, Concertmistress of the MSO since 2004; Vince Massimino, Violin, Assistant Concertmaster of the MSO since 1988 and many more! Greenville Honors Its Own

Jake and Freda Stein Hall , E.E. Bass Auditorium The Greenville Arts Council celebrates 29 years of art by honoring local community members for their contributions to the arts and the community. Master of ceremonies will be Greenville born comedian Claude Stuart, who currently resides in Los Angeles and has appeared on The Tonight Show and Comics Unleashed. Event sponsorships available. Southern Traditional Archery Shoot at Winterville Mounds

Greenville Garden Club 2012 Zone Meeting

March 27th to March 29th

The Greenville Garden Club welcomes twenty garden clubs from Zone IX of The Garden Club of America March 27-29, 2012. Clubs from Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Arkansas and three other clubs in Mississippi will participate in meetings and the Delta Blues Flower Show. The public is invited to view the Delta Blues Flower Show March 28 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and March 29 from 8:30 am to 11:30 am at the Capps Center in Stoneville. The flower arrangements, botanical embellishments, photography and horticulture display will be spectacular. Also on March 29 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am the public is invited to attend the Horticulture Seminar featuring speaker Dr. Douglas Tallamy, author of Bringing Nature Home and speaking on "Maintaining Curb Appeal With Native Plants". Public is also invited to shop our Delta Commissary that will sell books, art work, wood turning, McCarty Pottery, gardening accessories, handmade soaps and candles and plants from Fountain's Green Grow-cery. Tyrone Davis Blues Marker

Tyrone Davis (May 4, 1938 – February 9, 2005, born Tyrone Fettson,] was a leading American soul singer with a distinctive style, recording a long list of hit records over a period of more than 20 years. He had three no. 1 hits on the Billboard R&B chart: "Can I Change My Mind" (1968), ""Turn Back The Hands Of Time"" (1970), and "Turning Point" (1975). He was born in a rural community twenty miles outside of Greenville, Mississippi[ to Willie Branch and Ora Lee Jones. He moved with his father to Saginaw, Michigan, before relocating to Chicago in 1959. Working as a valet/chauffeur for blues singer Freddie King, he started singing in local clubs where he was discovered. Come and join the Mississippi Blues Trail as they partner with the Washington County Convention & Visitors Bureau to honor Tyrone Davis with a blues marker unveiling in downtown, Leland, MS, 409 North Main Street at 4pm. A reception sponsored by the Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau immediately following the marker unveiling at the Highway 61 Blues Museum in downtown Leland, MS.

Greenville Speedway Season Opening

March 31st to October 6th

The Greenville Speedway begins its new racing season at the most exciting track in the Delta. Come and check out the fast action, heart pounding, wheel to wheel racing at the Greenville Speedway which includes race cars of all makes and models, with exciting competitions, weekly racing, and cash prizes. Delta Center Stage 2011-2012 Season
