Archaeology Month at Winterville Mounds

January 1st to October 6th

These events will be hosted by archaeologist, Mark Dingeldein. Events begin at 12 noon and 1- 3 p.m., Mock Dig*. Young and old are invited to participate in a mock excavation at the mounds to learn about archaeological techniques. No experience necessary and tools are provided.Staff archaeologist Mark Dingeldein will demonstrate the scientific methods involved in a controlled excavation.Call 662-334-4684 to register. Greenville Speedway Season Opening

March 31st to October 6th

The Greenville Speedway begins its new racing season at the most exciting track in the Delta. Come and check out the fast action, heart pounding, wheel to wheel racing at the Greenville Speedway which includes race cars of all makes and models, with exciting competitions, weekly racing, and cash prizes. Delta Center Stage 2011-2012 Season

Delta Paranormal Project

October 5th to October 6th

Join the Southern Paranormal and Anomaly Research Society and Truthseekers Paranormal Research and Investigations for a metaphysical event in Greenville, MS.  In an effort to raise money for both the Muscular Dystrophy Association and St. Judes Hospital, we will be hosting a day full of guest speakers, product vendors, celebrity guests and concluding the day with an investigation of several haunted locations around Greenville, MS.  Celebrity guest include:  Patrick Burns, Marley Harbuck Gibson, Duann Kier, Deonna Kelli Sayes, Chris Dedman, and London Knight. 1st Annual Delta Storytelling Festival

 *Popcorn and a movie.“More than Bows and Arrows,” *has become one of the most popular films about Native Americans ever produced.It documents the contributions by American Indians to the cultural development of the United States and Canada.  Artifact* *Identification Day-* MDAH archaeologist, John Connaway, and Winterville Mounds archaeologist, Mark Dingeldein, will determine the age, origin, and function of artifacts brought into Winterville Museum by the public for identification. Native American Days 2012

October 31st to November 2nd

Native American Days will feature Native American arts and crafts, storytelling, games, food, dancing, singing, primitive weapons and children’s activities.  Meet Native American members of the Choctaw, Seminole, Cherokee, and Houma Nation.  Project S.O.A.R. (Save Our American Raptors), the USDA Wildlife, and the Southern Traditional Archery Association will also be present.  Admission is free, but donations are accepted.
