Directions: Winterville Mounds is located on Mississippi Highway 1, six miles north of intersection of Highways 82 and Highway 1 in Greenville, Mississippi.

A National Historic Landmark, the Indian Mounds at Winterville constitute one of North America’s most significant pre-Columbian archeological sites. Twelve mounds, including the massive 55-foot-tall Temple Mound, contrast dramatically with the flat Delta landscape. The on-site museum tells the story of an advanced North American civilization that once thrived in this location from about A.D. 1000 to 1450.
